performance - LoadRunner - Doubts on Requirements -

our team planning implement loadrunner performance testing.please clarify me on these requirement issues?

  1. in how many systems can install licensed loadrunner? or onto single system?
  2. for controller, virtul user generator , load generator, need seperate machines or can in single machine?

  • once controller license expires must remove other components tied license, namely vugen , analysis

with 2014

  • controllers not charged components. neither vugen, analysis or load generators
  • (my understanding phone call yesterday have not seen full license agreement) may install many copies of each component wish.
  • virtual users chargeable component , these still tied single controller instance. may install 500 controllers, 1 may have virtual users attached it. no shared virtual user pools unless move performance center
  • monitor status unknown. ask var or hp rep details.

under no circumstances performance testing complete monolithic installation on 1 machine considered best practices (holds loadrunner, silkperformer, rationalperformancetester, jmeter, opensta, soasta, ...). load generation want load generation happen on hosts independent of controller , want @ least 3 load generators in play, 2 primary load , 1 control host (single virtual user of each type). 3 may minimum number of load generators, far maximum, may number in dozens depending upon needs.
